What is a Costa Card?

The Costa Card is a multifunctional card issued to passengers on Costa Cruises. Here are its primary features and uses:

  • The Costa Card serves as your personal identification on the ship. It functions as your cabin key and must be presented when boarding or disembarking the ship.
  • The Costa Card is also used for all onboard transactions. Instead of carrying cash or credit cards, passengers can use their Costa Card to pay for drinks, excursions, spa treatments, and other services. All purchases are charged to the passenger’s onboard account, which is settled at the end of the cruise.

Your Costa Card is activated upon delivery and automatically charges expenses to your cabin account. such as at bars, boutiques, or for extra services. At the end of the cruise, you will receive a final bill detailing all your onboard purchases.

Within 48 hours of boarding, you need to register your credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) or debit card (except on ships in Asia) to cover the charges.

Alternatively, you can pay a cash deposit of USD150 per person, with the possibility of needing to add more if your expenses exceed the deposit.

If expenses exceed USD200 in the first 48 hours and your card isn’t linked by credit/debit card or covered by a cash deposit, the Costa Card may be temporarily disabled. Therefore, ensure you link your credit/debit card within 48 hours to avoid this issue.

To link your Costa Card with your credit card onboard, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Self-Service Kiosk:
    • Locate a self-service kiosk onboard the ship, usually found in the reception or main lobby area.
    • Swipe or insert your credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or American Express) into the kiosk. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration.
  2. Visit the Reception Desk:
    • Go to the reception desk located at Deck 3 if you prefer to register your credit card in person.

A single credit card can be linked to multiple Costa Cards, allowing you to settle the bills for family or friends staying in different cabins.

Remember, it’s important to link your credit card within the first 48 hours of boarding to ensure your Costa Card remains active for onboard purchases.

American Express, Visa and Mastercard credit cards and debit cards (with the exception of ships in Asia) are accepted on board.

Prepaid cards, rechargeable cards, and VISA Electron, Postepay, Postamat and Cirrus Maestro cards are not accepted.

There are no ATMs or banks on the ship. Remember to get money on land before departure or during the cruise.

  • USD48 per shipmate for Standard cabins (Interior, Oceanview and Balcony)
  • USD57 per shipmate for Suites (Mini Suite, Suite and Grand Suite)
